Father and child sitting on the beach and looking at the sea. It's really big. SEA. So big it's almost scary. "What will I be when I grow up?" the child asks. "You decide that yourself," the father replies. But is that all the child can decide? He doesn't get to decide how many waves there are, whether the sun rises or when the traffic lights change. And not about going to school or who the child's father is. In fact, the child doesn't decide almost anything - and neither does the father. But then the kid comes up with something that no one else can figure out.

The picture book Who gets to decide? is Nordic cooperation. In his philosophical and humorous text, the Danish author Jesper Wung-Sung deals with an idea that touches almost everyone from toddlers to adults: what do we really have control over decide in our lives? Illustrator Jenny Lucander's pictures are skillful, they come close to the child and turn everything upside down: it's all about perspective. The book is translated into Finnish by Johannes Ekholm.
