Maija Hurme (b. 1976) is an illustrator, writer and news graphic designer who spends half of her time working with children's literature and illustrations. Hurme, who lives in Helsinki, has illustrated several picture books, poetry books, school books and information books for children.

Her debut book, Yksinäisten saarten kartasto (The Atlas of the Solitary Islands, Etana Editons 2018), is a story about a little girl traveling in fantasy lands, a mother-daughter relationship and the need to be heard. Maija's second book, Kaikki löytämäni viimeiset (Last and Found, Etana Editions 2022) is a sensitive and multi-layered picture book and a play that challenges both children and adults to look at the world around them with new eyes. The book is nominated for the Nordic Council's children's and young people's literature prize in 2023.
